Formula returns to Silverstone this weekend for the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix – so here’s your guide to the race start time, how to watch it and more.

Last week’s British Grand Prix ended in spectacular fashion and kept us all on the edge of our seats right up to the chequered flag – and we’re fortunate enough to have another race at the historic Northamptonshire track this weekend.

Will Lewis Hamilton sweep the two races in Great Britain this season or will another contender emerge? Could Charles Leclerc seal another surprise podium? And will Max Verstappen be able to get any closer to the pace of the Mercedes pair?

Make sure you don’t miss a minute of the action – check out what time the race starts where you are in the graphic below, and for more information on what time you can watch FP1 & FP2 on Friday and FP3 & Qualifying on Saturday in your location, visit our 70th Anniversary Grand Prix RACE HUB which features a dynamic time converter

Daniel Ricciardo once again put in another strong showing at Silverstone as he qualified in P5 for the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix this weekend.
The Australian has shown good pace all weekend and only just missed out on the second row of the grid, despite putting in his time on intermediate tires, rather than the softs that the majority of the pack were on.

That means he will start on mediums compared to the others, meaning theoretically he should be able to go for longer than his rivals without pitting.

“That’s a cracking time from Ricciardo,” Sky Sports’ Martin Brundle said after the lap that set his qualifying time.

Ricciardo himself was also delighted, having finished fifth last week, his joint-best ever finish in a Renault.
Mercedes were well ahead of the competition on Friday at Silverstone. But last weekend’s race showed how readily victory might slip through their fingers.

Who will master the tricky, very soft compounds Pirelli has brought to this weekend’s race? Will Mercedes’ slip up and lose their 100% winning rate so far this year? It’s time to make your predictions for the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix.

We have a copy of F1 2020: Michael Schumacher edition to be won every grand prix weekend this year. The RaceFans F1 Predictions Championship is free to enter. You will need an RaceFans account to place so sign up here if you haven’t got one.

Monster Energy Grand Prix Czech Republic 2020

Monster Energy Grand Prix Czech Republic 2020: Watch The 2020 Czech Republic motorcycle Grand Prix is the fourth round of the 2020 Grand Prix Official name, Monster Energy Grand Prix České republiky. MotoGP Round 04 Czech Grand Prix Race. Automotodrom Brno, Czech Republic, August 9, 2020. Rd.4 Monster Energy Grand Prix Ceske republiky.

The 2020 MotoGP season continues and this weekend the teams and riders will be traveling to Central Europe where they’ll be competing in the Czech Republic Grand Prix and we have all the details on how you can watch the race on TV or online.

MotoGP began its 2020 season with back to back races at the Circuito de Jerez in Spain and since two Grand Prix can’t have the same name, the first race was called the Gran Premio Red Bull de España while the second race was the Andalusia Grand Prix. Just as he did at the first grand Prix held in Jerez, Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Fabio Quartararo also came in first at the Andalusia Grand Prix with a time of 41 minutes and 22 seconds, cutting down his finish time at the Gran Premio Red Bull de España by one second. In both races, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP’s Maverick Viñales was right behind Quartararo in second place.

The biggest story by far this season in the world of MotoGP is how eight-time world champion Marc Márquez suffered a broken arm at the Gran Premio Red Bull de España. While Márquez underwent surgery and was cleared to participate in the Andalusia Grand Prix, he ended up pulling out of the race’s qualifying due to a lack of strength in his broken right arm. Márquez has undergone a second surgery on his arm and unfortunately, he will be sitting out the Czech Republic Grand Prix this weekend.

The Czech Republic Grand Prix will be held at Brno Circuit which has 14 turns, a circuit length of 3.357 miles and the race will consist of just 21 laps due to the course’s longer length. MotoGP events have been held in Brno since 1930 and up until 1982, drivers would race through the villages and western parts of the city on a track named after the first president of the Czech Republic T.G. Masaryk. The Brno Circuit opened in 1987 and Dani Pedrosa currently holds the official record for best lap time on the course at one minute and fifty six seconds while driving a Honda motorcycle. While he won’t be participating in Sunday’s race, Márquez holds the unofficial best lap time at one minute and fifty four seconds.

Whether you’re a long-time fan of MotoGP or just started watching during the start of the 2020 season, we’ll show you exactly how to watch the 2020 Czech Republic Grand Prix from anywhere in the world.

Czech Republic Grand Prix – When and where?

This weekend, the premier class of racing on two wheels is back after taking a well-deserved week off, and we’ve got everything you need to fire up a MotoGP live stream to follow the Czech Republic Grand Prix all weekend long.

You couldn’t have a better start to 2020 than Fabio Quartararo has — the Frenchman is on a track to a world title in only his second year in the sport, after nabbing maiden victories in the first two contests. Meanwhile, many of those who could challenge the phenom are recovering from injury.

Reigning champ Marc Márquez underwent a second surgery last week, reportedly having broken a plate in his arm while opening a window. Suzuki’s Álex Rins plans to suffer through the pain at Brno after injuring his shoulder at Jerez. And LCR Honda rider Cal Crutchlow is finally ready to return to action after fracturing his wrist in the warm-up before the first race in Spain.

The Czech Republic Grand Prix is set to kick off at 8 a.m. ET on Sunday, August 9 at the historic Brno circuit. Keep reading on for details on where to stream the race, and scroll down to the end of this article for full qualifying results.

MotoGP Czech Republic Grand Prix live streams in the US
The NBC Sports Network is the U.S. home for the 2020 MotoGP season, though some of the races — like the opening round — have been shown on tape delay. Thankfully, this weekend’s Czech Republic Grand Prix is not one of them, so you’ll be able to watch along live on NBCSN. If you want NBCSN, your best bet is to get Sling TV, one of the best streaming services there is.

MotoGP fans, however, can get the live experience by spending a little more. MotoGP’s own VideoPass is the best way to stay in touch with MotoGP action. A 2020 season subscription will set you back $160, while a monthly pass is $34.

MotoGP Czech Republic Grand Prix live streams in the UK
Fans in the U.K. will want to tune into BT Sport, as the paid network airs every session of every MotoGP weekend live. Race day coverage starts at 9:30 a.m. BST, and the race begins at 1 p.m. BST.

If you don’t have BT Sport, a BT Sport monthly pass costs £25 a month. For that fee you’ll get to watch all kinds of sporting events, including football.

Our friends in the U.K. can also go the MotoGP VideoPass route. Access for the rest of the season will set you back £127, while one month is £27.

Silent Killer of Loving Relationships

It seems everywhere we turn, we see and hear about miserable people and their unhappiness stems largely from what they feel is missing in their intimate relationships. Tensions are higher than ever as stressed couples are forced to spend more time than ever together and silently stew, in this current pandemic. We overhear complaints about relationships from people who confide in us and when we are hurting, we may confide in others as well. Sample soundbites that you may instantly recognize are:

“She is totally selfish!”

“He never gets it!”

“He’s so obsessive and picky, he even likes his jeans ironed!”

“It is always about him!”

“She always believes her opinion is the only one that counts!”

Years ago, on a warm beautiful day, I climbed Squaw Peak in Arizona. There I was, getting directly in touch with Mother Nature, hiking up this scenic mountain when, to my astonishment, I heard some hikers complaining about their spouses and significant others as they passed by! There’s no escaping relationship angst—even in the wilderness. And, more recently, almost twenty years later, while hiking in Valley Forge Park near my office in Pennsylvania, I witnessed a young couple, seemingly in their thirties, arguing. Even from ample social distance, I could hear the woman emphatically exclaim that her male partner was “totally dense”, while he looked off before screaming at her that she was “nuts.”

There is a lot of walking wounded out there. These are the scores of people who feel unfulfilled, or worse, emotionally neglected or abused, in their intimate relationships. It seems that everywhere we turn, we unfortunately see and hear about people who are unhappy and emotionally hurting, often severely, in their quest to feel loved.

I know in the heat of the moment people believe, really believe in their heart and soul, that they are telling me the truth: “She is so lazy!”, “He really doesn’t listen,” “She always talks too much,” “He’s inconsiderate beyond belief…” Such distorted thoughts shine like beacons of truth amidst the sea of frustration that people in poor, problematic relationships feel they are drowning in.

But hold on. Really think about it. It’s virtually impossible that your partner never listens to you or never performs a considerate act. It may honestly seem that way to you at times, but I have yet to meet a person who never, ever listens, or who is incapable of being considerate. Of course, when one partner accuses the other of “never listening,” he or she reacts and sends the couple off on a whole new tangent that usually goes something like this: “That’s not true. Just last night I listened to you for two hours…” Or “Well how about what you did…”

I don’t know any mind readers. I also don’t know any blameless people. I don’t know anyone who can handle being told, “You’re nuts!” or “You’re the worst nag,” or “I have never met anyone as difficult as you!” Yet, these were the kinds of toxic thoughts (e.g., exaggerations, labels, all or nothing beliefs) being verbalized to me as if there wasn’t a doubt they were true. And the emotional damage resulting from these toxic thoughts is huge.

In my more than thirty years as a psychologist, I have repeatedly seen that if couples can manage their toxic thinking toward each other, a tremendous obstacle to communication, empathy, trust, and all the good relationship stuff was suddenly removed. Only then were they in a position to work through their problems together.

Over the last thirty years, I have seen that the nine specific types of relationship-sabotaging, destructive thoughts I discovered have emerged again and again with most individuals and couples who see me for relationship counseling. Some couples had three different toxic thought patterns at work in their relationship, others had six or seven, but one thing was for sure. Every couple had at least one.

Below is a list of the 9 primary toxic thoughts (as featured in my book, Why Can’t You Read My Mind?)

How many of these toxic thoughts do you or your partner struggle with?

The All-or-Nothing Trap: You see your partner as either always doing the wrong thing, or never doing the right thing. (“He always has to be right!”)

Catastrophic Conclusions: One partner exaggerates negative actions and events concerning the other partner. (“She bounced that check and now we are definitely heading to the poor house!”)

The “Should” Bomb: One partner assumes the other will meet one or more of his or her needs—just because he or she should know that need. (“You should know how much I hate my job, even though I tell everyone what a great opportunity it is.”)

Label Slinging: You unfairly, and negatively, label your partner and lose sight of his or her positive qualities. (“You are so lazy!”)

The Blame Game: You unfairly, and irrationally, blame your partner for relationship issues, or bigger issues. (“My life only sucks because of you!”)

Emotional Short Circuits: Emotional short circuits occur when one partner becomes convinced that his or her partner’s emotions can’t be “handled. (“No one can possibly ever reason with her!”)
A 97-year-old silent film once thought lost forever was recently rediscovered amidst a collection of old film reels donated by a Peoria man to the Chicago Film Archives.

This June, staff at the Chicago Film Archives found a complete copy of the 1923 feature film, “The First Degree” hidden among the mostly agricultural and industrial reels donated by Charles E. Krosse of Peoria in 2006. He died in 2016.

Krosse was a marketing director of films at Caterpillar who amassed a collection of more than 100 films produced or distributed by C.L. Venard Productions of Peoria, which was in business from around 1916 through the early 1980s. He reportedly stored the reels of 16mm and 35mm films in a closet next to a hot water heater, according to CFA volunteer Carolyn Faber, who drove to Peoria to pick up the films.

“Honestly, it’s sort of a miracle the film survived at all,” said Yasmin Desouki, collections manager for the Chicago Film Archives. “It’s incredibly rare for silent films produced during that time to have survived.”

Many films of the era were on nitrate, a notoriously flammable format.

“Nitrate films are very touchy,” said Desouki, noting many of the films were lost to fire or explosions.

Only about 25% of films from the silent era still survive. Even fewer silent films produced by Universal Studios like “The First Degree” have survived, due to that studio’s intentional mass destruction of most of its silent film archive in 1948. Desouki estimates only around 15% of Universal’s silent films are still in existence.

She said the print of “The First Degree” the CFA holds is in fantastic condition.

“The First Degree” was directed by Edward Sedgwick, who later directed many of the films of silent-era movie star Buster Keaton. Desouki describes the film as a “rural melodrama.”

“It’s kind of a niche part of the melodramatic genre,” she said. “We don’t have too many other surviving examples of that in film history, actually.”

The movie starred Frank Mayo as “Sam Purdy,” a banker-turned-politician-turned-sheep farmer who fights with his brother “Will” (Philo McCullough) for the love of “Mary” (Sylvia Breamer).

“It’s sort of has this Cain and Abel retelling of a sibling rivalry,” said Desouki. The film is based off George Pattullo’s 1914 short story, “The Summons.”

The film is now in the public domain. Desouki said her colleague Olivia Babler digitized the film for preservation. She said while the Chicago Film Archives would generally showcase such a discovery, the COVID-19 pandemic complicates any public exhibition plans. In the meantime, she said the group plans to stream the film somewhere in the near future and upload it to its website.

Desouki hopes the discovery brings more attention to the mission of the Chicago Film Archives that seeks to find, collect, preserve, and show off films highlighting the Midwest.

“We really are hoping that people look at our work more, and just discover what we do, and become more interested in regional film archives,” Desouki said.

Czech Republic Monster Energy Grand Prix 2020

Czech Republic Monster Energy Grand Prix 2020: The 2020 MotoGP season continues and this weekend the teams and riders will be traveling to Central Europe where they’ll be competing in the Czech Republic Grand Prix and we have all the details on how you can watch the race on TV or online.

Nascar Consumers Energy 400

Nascar Consumers Energy 400: 2020 Consumers Energy 400 is a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race held on August 11, 2019 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn NASCAR Cup Series race held annually in the month of August at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan since 1969.

Since 1974, Michigan International Speedway has been a mainstay on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule, playing host to two races per year. But this two-mile oval will break new ground in 2020 by hosting those races about 24 hours apart.

MIS becomes the second attempt at a NASCAR weekend doubleheader this summer as the sport experiments with its schedule during the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, no fans will witness twice the action along with the shortest scheduled races in MIS history: 312 miles (156 laps) apiece. The hope is smaller stage lengths (the first one is just 40 laps) will up the level of competition at a track that’s seen the leader pull away all too easily in recent years.

With only six races left in the regular season, it’s a make-or-break weekend for several drivers fighting for a playoff bid. The 10 drivers with a win this season have now clinched their spots but that also means a victory from any other full-time driver locks them in the field, too. Matt Kenseth, for example, could go from zero to hero despite sitting 28th in the standings; his Chip Ganassi Racing team has won with his No. 42 car in recent years.

It’s also an open audition for some heading into 2021. Silly Season heated up this week as in a matter of days, Leavine Family Racing announced the sale of its No. 95 team, Erik Jones announced his departure from Joe Gibbs Racing next season and Bubba Wallace was offered partial ownership in the No. 43 to stay at Richard Petty Motorsports.

In the meantime, Brad Keselowski signed a contract extension with Roger Penske, taking him off the market while Tyler Reddick reaffirmed his commitment to Richard Childress Racing. Keep in mind all this news happened since Sunday once the checkered flag fell at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

That ups the stakes for the racing at Michigan around the bubble. Clint Bowyer, 43 points ahead of Reddick for the final playoff spot, might be racing for his own contract extension at Stewart-Haas Racing. Jimmie Johnson is hoping to salvage his final full-time season while a fellow bubble driver, Jones, looks to potentially take his spot in the No. 48 come 2021. And Michael McDowell, up to 20th in points with a career year at Front Row Motorsports, is looking to keep his job there over the long term with a miracle postseason bid.

They’ll all jockey for position at a speedway that’s near the epicenter of American manufacturing. Lately, it’s been the Blue Oval crowd that’s been able to brag after races at Michigan; Ford has won four straight races at the track. Before that, it was a three-race win streak from Chevrolet as American-born manufacturers have earned all but one Cup victory here since the start of the 2012 season.

Toyota’s tough history here is another obstacle for Kyle Busch, whose last-place finish at New Hampshire opened the door just enough that the defending NASCAR champion could miss the playoffs with a catastrophic August. Can Busch get it together to win and lock in a spot before the regular season finishes up?

That’s plenty of storylines to set the stage in what NASCAR hopes will be a competitive weekend in the Irish Hills. A loss of a date on the 2021 schedule seems unlikely but, then again, that’s what is rumored for the other tracks hosting doubleheaders this season: Pocono Raceway and Dover International Speedway (Dover’s date loss is already confirmed). Two solid, exciting races after one too many snoozers could help keep MIS from sitting on the chopping block.

Who’s at the Front: Brad Keselowski
Team Penske’s top veteran reminded everyone he’s a dark horse title contender by cruising past Denny Hamlin to win Sunday’s New Hampshire race with ease. It’s the fifth straight year Keselowski has posted at least three victories driving the No. 2 Ford, a remarkable run of consistency he kept up this year despite a crew chief swap to Jeremy Bullins.

A rocky start to 2020 had some thinking Kes was on his way out at Penske. But the day after this race, a one-year contract extension kept him at the organization he’s been with for over a decade now. One of the smartest drivers in the sport, in hindsight, made the best career move for his long-term finances. Why sign a long-term deal now with 2021 the end of the pandemic (we hope) and a top-tier ride still potentially available at Hendrick Motorsports?

Who’s at the Back: Christopher Bell
Bell’s future seems bright with an almost-certain promotion to Joe Gibbs Racing in 2021. But it could be a rough ride for him in a Leavine Family Racing team that’ll wind down operations the rest of the year. Bell now has three straight finishes outside the top 20 and his 28th-place performance at New Hampshire came at a place where the Cup rookie never lost in two NASCAR Xfinity Series victories.

News Briefs

Bob Leavine’s sale of the No. 95 team came with a frightening warning for teams searching for sponsorship this offseason. “We looked at our marketing people and we are going to be lucky to sell $50,000 worth for the rest of the year,” Leavine said. “Big companies are going bankrupt. They can’t invest in something that has no more return than what they are going to get — during a pandemic.” Leavine has spent nearly a decade competing at the Cup level but only has six top-five finishes in 240 career starts.

The No. 95 sale, which didn’t include any equipment, leaves one less well-funded Toyota seat to go around. That likely forced the release of Jones, whose three-year tenure with Joe Gibbs Racing was marked by unfulfilled potential. “I greatly appreciate the opportunity that JGR provided me with and I wish the team nothing but success and good fortune,” Jones said. “JGR gave me a solid foundation from which to go out and compete at the highest level and I look forward to building on that in the years to come.” Jones has two victories since taking the helm of the No. 20 Toyota before the 2018 season; previous driver Matt Kenseth won eight times in a nearly three-year stretch.

NASCAR has changed its qualifying draw procedure beginning with next weekend’s Daytona road course event. Instead of automatically guaranteeing the top 12 spots to the top 12 in owner points, the new system will allow a variety of teams to compete for the pole. The new formula calculates each driver’s starting spot based on their finishing position in the previous race (50 percent), their points position (35 percent), and their fastest lap (15 percent). However, once the postseason begins, only playoff drivers will be eligible to start up front.

NASCAR by the Numbers

4

Top-10 finishes in the last five races for Cup rookie Cole Custer, including an upset win at Kentucky Speedway last month. Custer had just one top-10 performance in his first 18 races at the Cup level.

7

Top-10 finishes for Cup rookie Tyler Reddick in his first 20 races driving the No. 8 RCR Chevrolet. Previous driver Daniel Hemric had just two over a full season last year.

Playing the Odds (Fantasy Spin)

Top Tier

A contract extension? A win at New Hampshire? A Michigan native? I’d say it’s time to ride the hot hand with Brad Keselowski. He’s never won at this track, sure, but that makes him a bargain price at a track where he hasn’t run outside the top 20 since 2011. While there are flashier picks on the market, Keselowski brings the best bang for his buck.

Kevin Harvick has led the charge during Ford’s four-race Cup win streak at Michigan. During that stretch, he’s won twice, including July of last year, and led 194 laps while posting four straight top-10 finishes. If he starts out strong to start the weekend, expect back-to-back top-5 performances for him that could prove to be the backbone of your team.

PUT ATHLON MICHIGAN FANTASY LINK HERE

Middle Tier

Back-to-back top-10 finishes for Alex Bowman last season at Michigan bode well for his 2020 chances. This track is a virtual clone to the Auto Club Speedway track where Bowman won earlier this year. Since then, the No. 88 team has lost its way but a doubleheader weekend provides a 1-2 punch for a summer reset.

Chip Ganassi Racing offers two attractive, mid-priced options with veterans looking to turn their seasons around. Kurt Busch has a solid history at MIS, earning three career wins, and was second at this track in June of last year. And Matt Kenseth has a new crew chief, Phil Surgen, to help jump-start a rocky 2020 comeback. His personal career history at Michigan (three wins, 11.3 career average finish) meshes well with a No. 42 team that won three straight races here in 2016-17.

Lower Tier

Michael McDowell is 20th in the season standings? The former start-and-parker is over the moon after a season’s worth of overachieving with Front Row Motorsports. Ignore a history of no top-20 finishes in 12 starts and drool over the cheap price to stash him on the bottom of a roster.

Ty Dillon has quietly put together two top-15 finishes in eight MIS starts. One of them came last July with Germain Racing and he hopes to bring that momentum into 2020’s doubleheader. It’s another cheap option in daily fantasy to leave space for others that can contend for the win.

What Vegas Thinks
Kevin Harvick has 4/1 odds to win the first Michigan race, followed by Denny Hamlin at 6/1. Joey Logano, the defending race winner, sits third at 13/2.

If you want a lottery ticket, Matt Kenseth is sitting at 66/1 odds. You could do worse.

What I Think
Ford has been up front the last few years at Michigan and I don’t think 2020 will be any different. Kevin Harvick takes the checkered flag Saturday followed by hometown boy Brad Keselowski on Sunday.

NBA live starts on 31st July, 22 teams will return to play during the 2019-20 NBA season. The 22 teams consist of the 16 teams (eight per conference) in current playoff positions and the six teams that are currently six games or fewer behind the eighth seed in their respective conferences.

The player will be isolated and retested to make sure there isn’t a false positive. If it is confirmed, then the player will begin treatment and will undergo a period of rest and recovery lasting at least 14 days. Players will be restricted from exercise and will have to pass cardiac tests before a return to basketball is even considered. Players will be tested regularly.

If a player doesn’t want to go?
If a team determines a player is at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19, he can be designated a “protected” player who does not have to report and will not lose salary. Additionally, a panel of three medical experts will review players’ medical histories and could determine whether a player has a higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. In that case, a player is “excused” and will also not be docked salary.Players have the option to challenge the “protected” status and a panel of physicians will have ultimate authority. However, if a player doesn’t fall into either criterion and still declines to go, he will lose a corresponding number of game checks. For example, a player making $10 million per year will lose roughly $108,000 per game missed for up to 14 games. Players with season-ending injuries who will be unable to play in Orlando, such as Brooklyn Nets stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving will still receive their full pay.

Team Members

Each team will have 37 people inside the NBA campus. That will include up to 17 players, as well as support staff (including coaches, trainers, strength coaches, equipment managers, security, and front-office personnel). Teams are being encouraged to bring a mental health professional. As teams advance in the playoffs, they will be allowed to add and swap out members of the travel party. Teams can add two staffers after advancing past the first round of the playoffs, and two more after the conference semifinals.

This is the land of in-between for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Games right now matter, in the sense that only three contests are left to build momentum for the postseason. And games right now don’t matter, in the sense that the Lakers basically knew five months ago that they would be the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference playoffs.

They lost again Thursday night, with LeBron James getting the night off in a defeat to the Houston Rockets. The Lakers are 2-3 so far in the bubble, and their offensive numbers are brutal.

There are 22 teams here at the NBA restart at Walt Disney World. Of those 22, the Lakers — the team with the second-best record in the NBA — rank last in field goal percentage (.408), last in 3-point percentage (.234), last in points per game (98.8) and next-to-last in free throw percentage (.729).

“This is a totally different season, a totally different drastic situation for all of us, including myself,” James said this week.

If they win Game 1 of the playoffs in about a week and a half, none of this will matter. If they win the NBA title in a couple months, this will be long forgotten. But right now, the Lakers sure don’t seem like a team that’s going to be rolling into the postseason.

“I do believe in percentages,” Lakers coach Frank Vogel said. “I do believe in guys trusting the work that they put in. And there’s always a reversion to the mean. The law of averages plays out and I’m OK with getting all these misses out of the way right now.”

James didn’t play against Houston because of what the Lakers described as a sore groin muscle. There have been plenty of instances over the years where James has taken games off toward the end of the regular season once his team’s playoff seed was certain.

But this falls under what he was saying when he called this “a totally different season,” or as the NBA calls games at this restart, a Whole New Game. Having more than four months off isn’t ideal for anyone, including James, who is a creature of habit and rhythm.

And while he’s had flashes of his typical MVP-caliber self at Disney, they haven’t been constant. He came into the restart averaging 25.7 points, 10.6 assists and 7.9 rebounds on 50% shooting from the field, 35% from 3-point range.

In his four games at Disney, James is averaging 19.3 points, 10 rebounds and 6.3 assists on 42% shooting, 27% from 3-point range. For just about anyone else on the planet, those are fine numbers. For James, it shows his best form isn’t there yet.

“This is a totally different situation than any other situation that I’ve been in in my career, so I have zero experience with having the No. 1 seed inside of a bubble during seeding games playing in August,” James said. “So, this is all a learning experience for all of us and we’re going to take it day-by-day and continue to work on our habits, either on the floor, during the film session, when we’re able to get on the floor as well.”

He’s right: the habits need some work.

The Lakers have three of the four lowest-scoring games played in the bubble through Thursday: They had 97 against the Rockets, 92 against Toronto on Aug. 1 and 86 against Oklahoma City on Wednesday. The only other team with a point total like that so far in the restart is Utah, which had 94 against the Thunder on Aug. 1.

The Lakers also have the two worst field-goal percentage games in the bubble through Thursday, as well as the two worst 3-point shooting games.

They don’t seem panicked, because nothing counts yet. And there is a silver lining ahead: The Lakers play their last seeding game on Aug. 13, which could be as many as five days before their playoff opener because of the West play-in series that now seems all-but assured.

In other words, the Lakers will have time to start looking like themselves again.

“Obviously, it is a situation for us that we’re not shooting the ball well,” Lakers wing Kyle Kuzma said. “But we also know we have proven commodities.”
